Substitute Teacher Permit
To substitute teach in Wyoming, you must apply for a Substitute Teaching Permit through the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board. This permit is valid for five years and is eligible for renewal if you meet all of the requirements before the deadline (ie: acquire 70 contact hours of PTSB approved workshops/training).
There are two ways to meet the requirements for a substitute teacher permit.
College Credit Path
Complete at least 60 semester hours or an associate's degree from a regionally accredited college/university
Successfully complete the US and Wyoming Constitution exams
Submit fingerprints and receive a clear background check
Submit a complete application packet for a Wyoming Educator Permit
Alternative Path
Hold a high school diploma or GED
Complete at least 24 hours of school district in-service training (met by either the local Western Sublette 9 BOCES Class or WWCC)
Complete at least 30 hours of classroom observation (10 hours must be completed at EACH level and signed: elementary, junior high/middle, and high school)
Submit fingerprints and receive a clear background check
Successfully complete the US and Wyoming Constitution exams
Submit a complete application packet for a Wyoming Educator Permit
