Notice of Non-Discrimination

TITLE IX

Under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972:

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination, which includes sexual harassment and sexual violence, under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.

Title IX prohibits sex discrimination in educational institutions that receive federal funding, which includes BPHS, BPMS, BPES, and LBES. Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA)

The Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) applies to the programs and activities of a state education agency (SEA), local education agency (LEA), or other recipient of funds under any program funded by the U.S. Department of Education.  It governs the administration to students of a survey, analysis, or evaluation that concerns one or more of the following eight protected areas:

1. political affiliations or beliefs of the student or the student’s parent;
2. mental or psychological problems of the student or the student’s family;
3. sex behavior or attitudes;
4. illegal, anti-social, self-incriminating, or demeaning behavior;
5. critical appraisals of other individuals with whom respondents have close family relationships;
6. legally recognized privileged or analogous relationships, such as those of lawyers, physicians, and ministers;
7. religious practices, affiliations, or beliefs of the student or student’s parent; or
8. income (other than that required by law to determine eligibility for participation in a program or for receiving financial assistance under such program).

PPRA also concerns marketing surveys and other areas of student privacy, parental access to information, and the administration of certain physical examinations to minors.  The rights under PPRA transfer from the parents to a student who is 18 years old or an emancipated minor under state law.

DISCLOSURE OF DIRECTORY INFORMATION 

Disclosure of directory information will be made without prior or written parental permission. Directory information, for the purposes of the school district, may include: student name, address, grade in school, date and place of birth, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height or member of athletic teams, dates of attendance, awards received, and the most recent previous school attended. Any student or parent who objects to the disclosure of directory information should provide the school with a written objection prior to the start of school or within thirty (30) days after notification of the school's intent to make public directory information, whichever is later.

CIVIL RIGHTS

Applicants for admission and employment, students, parents, persons with disabilities, employees, and all unions or professional organizations holding collective bargaining or professional agreements with Sublette County School District Number 9 are hereby notified that this school does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, national origin, age, religion or belief, marital status, gender identity, political beliefs, sexual orientation, familial or parental status or disability in admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its programs and activities.

Any person having inquiries concerning the school's compliance with the regulations implementing Title II, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), or Section 504 is directed to contact the Section 504/ADA Coordinator, Superintendent of Schools, or Business Manager at P.O.
