Q: Are the 132 AP's a set-in-stone requirement?
A: The 132 AP's are based off of a count of 1 AP per classroom with extras for crowd areas like gym's and auditoriums. 132 AP's is not a set-in-stone requirement, it is the maximum that we would expect to see. Ideally we would like to see a number of AP's that reflects adequate coverage for each building.
Q: What is the current WLAN environment?
A: We have 37 Cisco Air-Cap3502I-A-K9 AP's on two Cisco 4402 controllers between the high school and middle school. Additionally we have 60 Ubiquity Unifi AP-LR AP's between the Big Piney elementary school, La Barge Elementary School and the Fine Arts buildings.
The network cabling in each building is at least CAT5e. The BP elementary school is all CAT6. The other buildings have a mix of CAT5e and CAT6.
All network switches are Cisco Catalyst 2960-S with PoE+. This model allows 1/4 of the ports to supply PoE+ power to devices.
Q: Any sort of initiative? (guest access, 1:1, BYOD, online testing)
A: We currently have 1:1 laptops in the high school and 1:1 iPads in 4th - 8th grades. K-3rd have about 90 iPads spread throughout the grades. Each class averages around 20 - 30 students per classroom. We also have guest access and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). We expect that each student or teacher will have at least one device and most will have 2 or more.
Q: Is on-site installation a requirement?
A: We are currently expecting a hardware only quote. We will take care of installation in-house. If on-site installation is included in a quote, we would recommend that it be included as an optional item.
Q: Do you require the AP's to be factory original?
A: We are only interested in whether the AP's meet our minimum requirements and can integrate with our current infrastructure.
Q: Where is Appendix B?
A: We don't have an Appendix B. We removed reference to it on page 29 but forgot to remove it from the Table of Contents. Sorry for the confusion.
